Post Production
When editing the prelim, I noticed some small errors in our filming and production. The first half of our prelim was filmed in a portrait point of view, however the second half where Haris and Sam are sitting at the table, is filmed in a Landscape point of view. This isn’t very noticeable because it only changes once in the middle of the scene, if however the orientations kept changing from clip to clip, we would of had to go back and film all of the portrait orientated clips again. Another small error I noticed was when I was trying to produce a match on action between a clip where Haris starts to rise from his chair and the next clip where Haris is standing up. I tried over and over again to make the transition look good by cropping each clip but I couldn’t manage to work it. As it turnt out, when I went back and watched the clip over, the prelim was getting slightly to long with the additional clip in it, so I removed the final clip and the prelim worked fine without it.
After I had finished putting all of the clips together, I watched the prelim over a few times and decided that it was quite bland and felt it was missing something. For the first 30 seconds of the video there is no dialogue and not much audio. Therefore I decided to add in some soundtracks and some non diegetic sound to improve the overall outcome of our video. The first thing I added was a soundtrack of ’50 cent –In da club’ over the top of when Haris is bowling his way towards/into and across the classroom to meet Sam. This soundtrack suddenly stops when the audience can see that Haris is meeting Sam for a game of chess which isn’t actually cool at all. The second thing I added was some non diegetic sound of whistling wind. I added this over the top of when Sam and Haris are playing their game of chess. I done this to reinforce the suggestion of what they were doing was actually very boring in contrast to what the audience originally perceived as a very cool character bowling his way along the corridor. Originally I did try to find the sound of tumbleweed or even a cricket to go where this sound has been placed, however I couldn’t find any free downloads of these so I settled for the wind which worked fine.
